Description
The oeuvre of female French composer and pianist Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944) mainly consists of character pieces for piano as well as salon songs; she also wrote a small number of orchestral works, a comic opera and a ballet. Her best-known work may well be the Concertino opus 107, a piece that is part of many a flutist’s repertoire. The five pieces featured in this collection – short piano works for the young pianist – have been taken from her Album des enfants. In adapting the music for brass quartet, the arranger has tried to stay as close to the original piece as possible.
